Complex Invisalign Correction of Anterior Reverse Bite

Today we completed a complicated orthodontic case in which the patient had an anterior reverse bite. The right lateral incisor was palatally placed, there was significant crowding, and the midline was severely shifted. This case was treated with Invisalign clear aligners.

In this case, the anterior crossbite, that is, the reverse bite, was corrected. The midline correction also took a long time, but it is now completely matched. The lateral incisor, which was positioned palatally, was moved outward and is now properly aligned within the arch.

However, the gingival contour around the lateral incisor was not matching the adjacent anterior teeth. So, laser crown lengthening was performed to improve the gingival symmetry and match the gum line with the surrounding incisors, and that is how we completed this case.

It was definitely a very challenging case and it took longer than usual to finish, but now the midlines are matched, the crowding is relieved, the reverse bite is corrected, and the overall aesthetics is improved.
